Osmania Medical College is one of the most popular and prestigious medical colleges in the state of Telangana in south India. Established in the year 1846, the college is located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The college is currently affiliated to the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences in Warangal, Telangana, India.

Osmania Medical College was established as the Hyderabad Medical School in 1846, which is the forerunner of the present-day institution. The college was initially affiliated with Osmania University and later, in 1919, it was renamed Osmania Medical College after the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. The college has a rich history spanning over 150 years, and it has produced many notable alumni who have made significant contributions to the field of medicine in India and around the world.

The establishment of the Hyderabad Medical School was initiated when the 5th Nizam of Hyderabad, Afzal ud Dowla, Asaf Jah 5, became ill and was treated with Western medicine by Surgeon, Dr. William Campbell Maclean. The Nizam was fully cured, and he was impressed with allopathic medicine. As a result, he ordered the establishment of the Hyderabad Medical School in 1847, with Dr. Maclean as its first head.

Dr. Edward Lawrie, then principal of Hyderabad Medical School, performed a series of experiments on anesthesia at Afzal Gunj Hospital (now Osmania General Hospital), known as the Hyderabad Chloroform Commission. The world's first female anesthesiologist, Dr. Rupa Bai Furdoonji, graduated from Osmania Medical College in 1889.

Admission to Osmania Medical College is granted through entrance examinations such as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) or the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test (TG EAMCET).
