Pankomab

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Pankomab is a monoclonal antibody that is designed for the treatment of cancer. It is currently in the clinical trial phase. Pankomab targets the tumor-associated antigen GA733, which is overexpressed in many types of cancer, including colorectal cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, and pancreatic cancer.

Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]

Pankomab works by binding to the GA733 antigen, which is found on the surface of cancer cells. This binding triggers an immune response that leads to the destruction of the cancer cells. The GA733 antigen is a particularly attractive target for cancer therapy because it is overexpressed in many types of cancer, but is not found in high levels in normal tissues.

Clinical Trials[edit | edit source]

Pankomab has been tested in several clinical trials. In a phase I trial, it was found to be safe and well-tolerated. A phase II trial is currently underway to further evaluate its safety and efficacy.

Potential Applications[edit | edit source]

If successful in clinical trials, Pankomab could be used to treat a variety of cancers, including colorectal, breast, ovarian, lung, and pancreatic cancer. It could also potentially be used in combination with other cancer treatments to enhance their effectiveness.
