Park Bom (born March 24, 1984) is a South Korean singer. She is best known as a member of the South Korean girl group 2NE1, which was formed by YG Entertainment in 2009. Park Bom has also pursued a successful solo career.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Park Bom was born in Seoul, South Korea. She moved to the United States during her sixth grade to study, where she attended Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. She later studied at Lesley University majoring in psychology before transferring to Berklee College of Music to pursue her music career.

2006–2008: Pre-debut activities[edit | edit source]

Before her official debut, Park Bom featured in songs by other YG Entertainment artists, including Big Bang's "We Belong Together" and "Forever with You."

2009–2016: 2NE1[edit | edit source]

In 2009, Park Bom debuted as the main vocalist of 2NE1, alongside CL, Dara, and Minzy. The group quickly rose to fame with hits like "Fire" and "I Don't Care." 2NE1 became one of the most popular and influential girl groups in South Korea and internationally.

2011–2014: Solo activities[edit | edit source]

Park Bom released her first solo single, "You and I" in 2009, which was a commercial success. She followed it up with another hit single, "Don't Cry" in 2011. Both songs topped the Gaon Digital Chart.

2016–present: Hiatus and return[edit | edit source]

After 2NE1 disbanded in 2016, Park Bom took a hiatus from the music industry. She made her comeback in 2019 with the single "Spring," featuring Sandara Park. The song was well-received and marked her return to the music scene.

Park Bom has been open about her struggles with ADHD, which she was diagnosed with during her time in the United States. She has also faced scrutiny and controversy over her use of prescription medication, which she has stated was for her medical condition.
