Paul Gallen (born 14 August 1981) is an Australian former professional rugby league player and current professional boxer. He is best known for his long and successful career in the National Rugby League (NRL) with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, where he captained the team to their first NRL Premiership in 2016. Gallen's playing position in rugby league was primarily as a lock but he also played as a prop during his career.

Paul Gallen was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He began playing junior rugby league for the Wentworthville Magpies in Sydney's western suburbs before being scouted and signed by the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Rugby League Career[edit | edit source]

Gallen made his NRL debut for the Sharks in 2001 and quickly established himself as a key player for the club. Over his career, he became known for his work ethic, toughness, and leadership on the field. Gallen played over 300 games for the Sharks, a significant achievement in the NRL. His leadership qualities were recognized when he was named captain of the Sharks in 2007, a role he held for many years.
