Pericyazine
Pericyazine is an antipsychotic drug of the phenothiazine class. It is primarily used to treat psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. It may also be used for nausea and vomiting, and to treat insomnia in patients with psychosis.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Pericyazine is a phenothiazine derivative with antipsychotic properties. It works by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain, which helps to reduce symptoms of psychosis.
Medical uses[edit | edit source]
Pericyazine is used to treat a variety of conditions:
- Schizophrenia: Pericyazine is used to manage the symptoms of schizophrenia, such as hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking.
- Nausea and vomiting: Pericyazine can be used to treat nausea and vomiting, particularly when these symptoms are caused by chemotherapy.
- Insomnia: In patients with psychosis, pericyazine may be used to treat insomnia.
