Peter Barwick (1619–1705) was an English physician, biographer, and medical writer, known for his literary contribution as well as his medical practices in the 17th century. He was a dedicated royalist, and his works include a biography of his brother, John Barwick, a staunch supporter of the King Charles I during the English Civil War.

Early Life and Education

Peter Barwick was born in 1619, in Wetherslack, Westmorland, now part of Cumbria. He was the younger brother of John Barwick, a dean of St. Paul's. Peter's early education was under the guidance of his brother John, and he later attended the University of Cambridge, where he pursued his studies in medicine. After completing his education, Barwick practiced medicine in London, where he gained a reputation for his skills and knowledge.

Career

Throughout his career, Peter Barwick served as a physician to several notable figures of his time, including King Charles II, after the restoration of the monarchy.
