Peter Plate
Peter Plate (born 1 July 1967) is a German musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as a member of the pop duo Rosenstolz, which he formed with AnNa R. in 1991. Plate has also pursued a solo career and has been involved in various musical projects and collaborations.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Peter Plate was born in New Delhi, India, and grew up in Hamburg, Germany. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began playing the piano and guitar. Plate's early musical influences included artists such as David Bowie, Depeche Mode, and The Cure.

Rosenstolz[edit | edit source]
In 1991, Peter Plate and AnNa R. formed the pop duo Rosenstolz in Berlin. The duo quickly gained popularity in Germany with their unique blend of pop, rock, and chanson music. Rosenstolz released several successful albums, including Herzensschöner (1992), Mittwoch is' er fällig (1995), and Die Suche geht weiter (2008). The duo's music often addressed themes of love, identity, and social issues.
Solo Career[edit | edit source]
After Rosenstolz went on hiatus in 2012, Peter Plate embarked on a solo career. He released his debut solo album, Schüchtern ist mein Glück, in 2013. The album showcased Plate's songwriting skills and featured a mix of pop and electronic music. Plate continued to work on solo projects and collaborated with other artists in the German music industry.

In addition to his work with Rosenstolz and his solo career, Peter Plate has been involved in various musical projects. He has written and produced songs for other artists, including Sarah Connor and 2raumwohnung. Plate has also composed music for theater productions and films.

Peter Plate is openly gay and has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in Germany. He has spoken publicly about his experiences and the importance of acceptance and equality. Plate currently resides in Berlin.
