Template:Infobox amusement park ride
Pirates of the Caribbean is a dark ride attraction at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Park (Paris), and Shanghai Disneyland. The ride tells the story of a band of pirates and their adventures and misadventures in the Caribbean.
History[edit | edit source]
The original Pirates of the Caribbean ride opened at Disneyland in New Orleans Square on March 18, 1967. It was one of the last attractions overseen by Walt Disney himself. The ride was an immediate success and led to the creation of similar attractions at other Disney parks around the world.
Attraction Details[edit | edit source]
The ride features a variety of scenes depicting pirate life, including a battle between a pirate ship and a fortress, a town being sacked by pirates, and a dungeon scene. The attraction is known for its use of Audio-Animatronics, a technology developed by Walt Disney Imagineering.
Music[edit | edit source]
The ride's theme song, "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)," was composed by George Bruns with lyrics by Xavier Atencio. The song has become iconic and is closely associated with the attraction.
Updates and Changes[edit | edit source]
Over the years, the ride has undergone several updates. In 2006, characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series were added to the attraction, including Captain Jack Sparrow, Hector Barbossa, and Davy Jones.
