Pollo Campero was founded by the Gutierrez family in 1971. The first restaurant was opened in Guatemala City, and quickly gained popularity due to its unique recipe for fried chicken. The success of the first restaurant led to the opening of additional locations throughout Guatemala and eventually, international expansion.
International Expansion[edit | edit source]
Pollo Campero began its international expansion in the 2000s. The first international location was opened in El Salvador in 2002. This was followed by the opening of locations in Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and the United States. Today, Pollo Campero has over 400 locations in more than 15 countries.
