Polly-O is a brand of Italian-style cheese that was established in 1899 by Giuseppe Pollio in Brooklyn and later sold to Kraft Foods in 1986. The brand is known for its ricotta, mozzarella, and string cheeses among other products.

History[edit | edit source]

Giuseppe Pollio brought his traditional Italian cheese-making skills from Italy to Brooklyn, New York in 1899. His business grew from a small storefront operation to a large-scale manufacturing company. The name "Polly-O" is derived from the founder's last name.

In 1986, the brand was sold to Kraft Foods, a multinational food company based in the United States. Under Kraft's ownership, Polly-O has continued to produce Italian-style cheeses using traditional methods.
