RNF26
RNF26 (Ring Finger Protein 26) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RNF26 gene. This protein is a member of the RING finger protein family, characterized by a unique structural motif that binds zinc, known as the RING finger domain.

RNF26 is a E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that plays a crucial role in the regulation of innate immune response. It is involved in the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of certain proteins involved in antiviral and antibacterial responses.
Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]
Mutations in the RNF26 gene have been associated with various genetic disorders, including autoimmune diseases. Further research is needed to fully understand the role of RNF26 in human health and disease.
Structure[edit | edit source]
The RNF26 protein contains a RING finger domain, which is a type of zinc finger that is rich in cysteine and histidine residues. This domain is responsible for the protein's E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity.
