Rare (company)
Rare Ltd. is a British video game developer and a subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios. Founded in 1985 by Tim Stamper and Chris Stamper, Rare is known for its innovative and influential games across various platforms.

Rare was established in Twycross, England, and initially focused on creating games for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The company gained prominence with titles such as Battletoads and Donkey Kong Country, which showcased their ability to push the technical limits of the hardware.
In 2002, Rare was acquired by Microsoft and became part of Xbox Game Studios. This acquisition allowed Rare to develop games for the Xbox platform, including Kameo: Elements of Power and Viva Piñata.

- GoldenEye 007 - A first-person shooter for the Nintendo 64 that set new standards for the genre.
