Regucalcin

Regucalcin (Japanese: レグカルシン), also known as Senescence Marker Protein-30 (SMP30), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RGN gene. Regucalcin plays a crucial role in calcium signaling within cells, particularly in maintaining calcium homeostasis. It is widely expressed in various tissues, including the liver, kidney, heart, and brain, and has been implicated in a range of physiological and pathological processes.

Function

Regucalcin has a pivotal role in regulating intracellular calcium levels, which is vital for various cellular functions such as enzyme activities, gene expression, and cell proliferation.
