Pronounced REE-nul TOO-byool, renal tubule is small tube in the kidney that contains cells that filter and clean the blood.

There are about 1 million renal tubules in each kidney.
Function[edit | edit source]
The renal tubules make urine by removing waste, extra fluid, and other substances from the blood. Urine moves through the renal tubules into the tubes that carry urine from the kidney to the bladder.
