Richland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,304. Its county seat is Richland Center.
History[edit | edit source]
Richland County was created from the Wisconsin Territory in 1842 and was organized in 1850. The county was named for the rich soil found in the area.
Geography[edit | edit source]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 589 square miles (1,530 km²), of which 586 square miles (1,520 km²) is land and 3.0 square miles (7.8 km²) (0.5%) is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 17,304 people, 7,200 households, and 4,500 families residing in the county. The population density was 29.5 people per square mile (11.4/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 96.5% White, 0.5% Black or African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. 1.5% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
