Roland Mesnier (July 8, 1944 – August 26, 2022) was a French-American pastry chef and author known for serving as the White House Executive Pastry Chef from 1979 to 2004. He was renowned for his elaborate and creative desserts, which were served to numerous U.S. Presidents and their guests.

Roland Mesnier was born in Bonnay, a small village in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. He developed an interest in baking at a young age and began his apprenticeship at the age of 14 in a local patisserie. His early training laid the foundation for his future career in pastry arts.

In 1979, Mesnier was appointed as the White House Executive Pastry Chef by First Lady Rosalynn Carter. During his tenure, he served under five U.S. Presidents: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. Mesnier was known for his innovative and artistic desserts, which often featured intricate sugar sculptures and chocolate creations.

After retiring from the White House in 2004, Mesnier continued to share his passion for pastry through teaching, writing, and public speaking. Roland Mesnier became a naturalized citizen of the United States and resided in Burke, Virginia. He was married and had one son. Mesnier passed away on August 26, 2022, at the age of 78.
