Rosie Perez was born in Brooklyn, New York City, to Puerto Rican parents. She was raised in the Bushwick neighborhood. Perez had a tumultuous childhood, spending time in foster care and group homes. Despite these challenges, she discovered a passion for dancing and acting at a young age.
