Schleswig-Holstein is a state in the northernmost region of Germany. It is the only German state that has both a North Sea and Baltic Sea coastline. The state's capital city is Kiel. Other notable cities include Lübeck and Flensburg.

Schleswig-Holstein is located in the northwestern part of Germany, bordering Denmark to the north, the North Sea to the west, and the Baltic Sea to the east. The state is characterized by its flat topography and numerous lakes and rivers.

The region of Schleswig-Holstein has a rich history dating back to the Viking Age. It was part of the Holy Roman Empire before becoming a duchy under Danish rule in the 14th century. The state became part of Germany in 1866 following the Second Schleswig War.

Schleswig-Holstein's economy is diverse, with key sectors including agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing. The state is also a major hub for wind energy production in Germany.
