Seaford is a city located in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. Seaford is the largest city in Sussex County and was voted the 28th Best Small Town in America.

Seaford was founded in 1672 and has a rich history as a center of agriculture and industry. The city was named after Seaford, East Sussex, in England.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Seaford is situated along the Nanticoke River, which provides opportunities for recreation and commerce. The city covers a total area of 5.3 square miles, all of which is land.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2020 United States Census, Seaford had a population of approximately 8,000 people. The city has a diverse community with a mix of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Economy[edit | edit source]

Seaford's economy has historically been based on agriculture and manufacturing. The city was once home to the first nylon manufacturing plant, established by the DuPont company in 1939.

Seaford is served by the Seaford School District, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Seaford High School.

Seaford is accessible via U.S. Route 13, which runs north-south through the city. The city is also served by the Delmarva Central Railroad.
