Early life[edit | edit source]
Seal was born in Paddington, London, to a Nigerian mother, Adebisi Ogundeji, and a Brazilian father, Francis Samuel. He was raised in Westminster, London. Seal's facial scars are the result of a type of lupus called discoid lupus erythematosus, which affects the skin and leaves large scars.
Career[edit | edit source]

Breakthrough and success[edit | edit source]

His second album, also titled Seal, was released in 1994 and featured the song "Kiss from a Rose," which won three Grammy Awards in 1996.

Seal continued to release successful albums, including Human Being (1998), Seal IV (2003), and System (2007). He has also released several compilation albums and live recordings.
