Sean Patrick Hannity (born December 30, 1961) is an American television host, conservative political commentator, and author. He is best known as the host of Hannity on Fox News, a position he has held since 2009. Hannity is also a nationally syndicated talk radio host, with his program The Sean Hannity Show airing on over 500 stations across the United States.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Sean Hannity was born in New York City, New York, and raised in Franklin Square, New York. He is the youngest of four siblings. Hannity attended St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary in Uniondale, New York, and later enrolled at New York University and Adelphi University, although he did not graduate from either institution.

Radio[edit | edit source]
Hannity began his radio career in 1989 at KCSB-FM in Santa Barbara, California, where he hosted a volunteer talk show. His controversial style led to his dismissal from the station, but he quickly found work at WVNN in Athens, Alabama, and later at WGST in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1996, Hannity joined WABC in New York City, where he hosted the afternoon drive-time show until 2013. He then moved to WOR in New York City, where he continues to broadcast. The Sean Hannity Show is syndicated by Premiere Networks and reaches millions of listeners each week.

Hannity's television career began in 1996 when he was hired by Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes to co-host Hannity & Colmes with liberal counterpart Alan Colmes. The show featured debates between the two hosts on political issues of the day.
After Colmes left the show in 2009, it was rebranded as Hannity, with Hannity as the sole host. The program has become one of the highest-rated cable news shows, known for its conservative perspective and support of Republican policies.

Hannity is also a bestselling author, having written several books including Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty over Liberalism (2002), Deliver Us from Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism (2004), and Live Free or Die: America (and the World) on the Brink (2020).
