Selbu
Selbu is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Nea River traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Mebonden. Other villages in Selbu include Flora, Fossan, Innbygda, Selbustrand, and Tømra.

Selbu was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838. The areas of Tydal were separated from Selbu to form a separate municipality on 1 January 1901.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Selbu is located in the middle of Norway, in the county of Trøndelag. The municipality is known for its distinctive landscape, which includes forests, mountains, and the lake Selbusjøen. The Nea River runs through the municipality, providing opportunities for fishing and outdoor recreation.

The economy of Selbu is diverse, with significant contributions from agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, and services. The municipality is known for its production of Selbu socks, a traditional Norwegian knitted sock, and other Selbu patterns in Norwegian knitwear.

Selbu is rich in cultural traditions, particularly in music and handicrafts. The annual Selbu Harp Festival attracts musicians and visitors from around the world. The municipality is also known for its traditional Norwegian knitting patterns, known as Selbu patterns, which are used in the production of Selbu socks, mittens, and other knitwear.
