- Shingle Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. The population was 4,432 at the 2010 census, up from 2,643 at the 2000 census. It is located about 40 miles from Sacramento, the state capital.

- Shingle Springs was established in 1849 as a mining camp during the California Gold Rush. It took its name from a horse-drawn shingle machine capable of producing 16,000 shingles a day that was located near the springs at the western edge of the camp.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Shingle Springs is located at 38°40′28″N 120°56′19″W (38.6743, -120.9389). The CDP has a total area of 8.2 square miles (21 km2), of which, 8.2 square miles (21 km2) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.052 km2) of it (0.24%) is water.
