Description[edit | edit source]

Solanum erianthum is a small tree or large shrub that can grow up to 10 meters in height. The leaves are large, ovate, and covered with fine hairs, giving them a velvety texture. The plant produces clusters of small, white to pale violet flowers that are star-shaped. The fruit is a berry, initially green and turning yellow or orange when ripe.

Uses[edit | edit source]

Medicinal[edit | edit source]

In traditional medicine, Solanum erianthum is used for its purported antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties. Various parts of the plant, including the leaves, roots, and berries, are used to treat ailments such as fever, skin infections, and pain.

Ornamental[edit | edit source]

Due to its attractive foliage and flowers, Solanum erianthum is also grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and landscapes.
