Spasmofen

Spasmofen is a pharmaceutical drug used primarily for the treatment of spasms associated with conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other related gastrointestinal disorders. It is a combination drug, containing the active ingredients hyoscine butylbromide and paracetamol.

Like all medicines, Spasmofen can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Some common side effects include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Increased heart rate
  • Constipation
  • Difficulty urinating

Contraindications[edit | edit source]

Spasmofen should not be used in people with certain conditions, including:

  • Myasthenia gravis: A weakness and rapid fatigue of muscles under voluntary control.
  • Glaucoma: A group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, the health of which is vital for good vision.
  • Prostatic hypertrophy: Enlargement of the prostate gland.
