It combines several disciplines such as physiology, psychology, anatomy, biomechanics and biochemistry to understand the physiological and psychological demands of sport, improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Sports science is a rapidly growing field that is becoming increasingly important in the world of professional sport. It involves the study of how the human body functions during exercise, and how sport and physical activity promote health and performance from cellular to whole body perspectives.
