St. Francis County, Arkansas[edit | edit source]

  • St. Francis County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 28,258. The county seat is Forrest City. The county was formed on October 13, 1827, and named for the St. Francis River, another name used in the early days of American settlement.

Geography[edit | edit source]

  • St. Francis County is located in the eastern part of Arkansas. It is bordered by Cross County to the north, Crittenden County to the east, Lee County to the south, and Monroe County to the west. The county has a total area of 643 square miles, of which 635 square miles is land and 8.0 square miles is water.

  • Forrest City Medical Center is a 118-bed facility that provides complete inpatient, outpatient, surgical, diagnostic and emergency care. They are located at 1601 Newcastle Road in Forrest City, Arkansas.

East Arkansas Family Health Center[edit | edit source]

  • East Arkansas Family Health Center (EAFHC) is a non-profit, FTCA Deemed, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the residents of East Arkansas. The center provides a wide range of services, including adult medicine, pediatrics, dental care, vision services, behavioral health services, and an in-house pharmacy. EAFHC is located at 900 Holiday Drive in Forrest City, Arkansas.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

  • As of the 2010 census, there were 28,258 people, 10,492 households, and 7,319 families residing in the county. The racial makeup of the county was 56.5% Black or African American, 41.4% White, 0.2% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.7% from other races, and 0.7% from two or more races. 1.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

  • Major highways in St. Francis County include Interstate 40, U.S. Highway 70, and U.S. Highway 79. The county is also served by the Forrest City Municipal Airport.
