Teany
== Teany ==
Teany is a popular tea and vegan food cafe located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. It was co-founded by musician Moby and his ex-girlfriend Kelly Tisdale in 2002. The name "Teany" is a portmanteau of 'tea' and 'tiny', reflecting the cafe's small size and focus on tea.
History[edit | edit source]
Teany officially opened its doors in May 2002. The cafe quickly gained popularity due to its extensive tea menu, offering over 98 different types of tea, and its vegan and vegetarian food options. In 2009, a fire caused significant damage to the cafe, leading to its temporary closure. It reopened in 2010 with a renovated interior and an expanded menu.
Menu[edit | edit source]
Teany's menu features a wide variety of teas, including black tea, green tea, herbal tea, and oolong tea. The cafe also offers a selection of vegan and vegetarian food options, such as sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Some of the most popular items on the menu include the vegan chicken salad sandwich and the vegan cheesecake.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Teany has received positive reviews for its cozy atmosphere, extensive tea selection, and vegan food options. It has been featured in several publications, including The New York Times, Time Out New York, and VegNews.
