The Oaks is a palliative care day hospital located in Elgin, Moray, Scotland. It was established in 1997 and is managed by NHS Grampian.

History[edit | edit source]

The Oaks was built in a leafy setting in 1997, following the proposals of the Hospice in Moray steering committee. The facility was created with the help of £2.2 million raised by Macmillan Cancer Support. It was officially opened by Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay on 5 August 2003. In 2010, it was awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) for its high standards in building design. An extension was added in 2011, providing a larger lounge and dining area.

The Oaks is a purpose-built unit that offers specialist care and support for individuals with cancer and other progressive illnesses in Moray. The center focuses on pain and symptom control to reduce suffering and improve quality of life. It is located approximately half a mile from Dr Gray's Hospital on the main A96 towards Inverness.
