Tongaat Hulett
Tongaat Hulett is a South African agribusiness company. It is primarily involved in the agriculture and agro-processing sectors, with a particular focus on sugar production, starch and property development. The company has operations in six African countries, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia.

Tongaat Hulett was established in 1892 as Hulett's Sugar by Sir Liege Hulett. The company initially focused on sugar production in the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa. In 1962, it merged with the Tongaat Sugar Company to form the Tongaat-Hulett Sugar Group. The company diversified its operations over the years, venturing into starch production and property development.

Tongaat Hulett's operations are divided into three main divisions: sugar, starch and property development.
Sugar[edit | edit source]
The company's sugar operations involve the cultivation of sugarcane, production of raw and refined sugar, and the manufacture of downstream products such as molasses and ethanol. Tongaat Hulett is one of the largest sugar producers in South Africa and a significant player in the African sugar industry.
Starch[edit | edit source]
Tongaat Hulett's starch division produces a variety of starch and glucose products for the food, beverage, paper and textile industries. The company operates four maize mills in South Africa.
Property Development[edit | edit source]
The company's property development division is involved in the conversion of agricultural land into residential, commercial and industrial properties. This division has been instrumental in the development of several major projects in KwaZulu-Natal.

Tongaat Hulett is a publicly listed company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The company is governed by a board of directors, with the current CEO being Gavin Hudson.
