Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International
Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International
The Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International (TF-FI) is an international Trotskyist organization that was founded in 1998. It is composed of various revolutionary socialist groups that adhere to the principles of Leon Trotsky and the Fourth International. The TF-FI aims to build a revolutionary socialist movement on a global scale, advocating for the overthrow of capitalism and the establishment of socialism through proletarian revolution.
History[edit | edit source]
The Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International was established following a split within the International Workers League (Fourth International) (IWL-FI). The split was primarily due to disagreements over the direction and strategy of the IWL-FI. The founding groups of the TF-FI sought to maintain a more orthodox Trotskyist approach, emphasizing the importance of building a revolutionary vanguard party and the need for international coordination among revolutionary socialist groups.
Member Organizations[edit | edit source]
The TF-FI is composed of several member organizations from different countries. Some of the prominent member organizations include:
- Partido de los Trabajadores Socialistas (PTS) in Argentina
- Revolutionary Communist Current (CCR) in France
- Revolutionary Workers Party (PRT) in Mexico
- Socialist Workers Party (PTS) in Brazil
These organizations work together to promote the ideas of Trotskyism and to support each other's struggles against capitalist oppression in their respective countries.
Ideology[edit | edit source]
The ideology of the Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International is rooted in the theories and writings of Leon Trotsky, particularly his analysis of permanent revolution, the role of the vanguard party, and the need for an international socialist revolution. The TF-FI rejects the Stalinist model of socialism and instead advocates for a democratic, internationalist approach to building socialism. The TF-FI also emphasizes the importance of workers' self-management, direct democracy, and the need for revolutionary socialist parties to be deeply embedded in the working class. They believe that only through the active participation and leadership of the working class can a successful socialist revolution be achieved.
Activities[edit | edit source]
The Trotskyist Fraction – Fourth International engages in various activities to promote their revolutionary socialist agenda. These activities include:
- Organizing and participating in labor strikes and workers' protests
- Publishing newspapers, magazines, and online content to spread their ideas
- Conducting educational programs and political training for activists
- Building alliances with other leftist and progressive movements
The TF-FI also holds international conferences and meetings to coordinate their efforts and to discuss strategies for advancing the global socialist movement.
