UCL School of Pharmacy

UCL School of Pharmacy is a constituent faculty of University College London, a public research university located in London, United Kingdom. The school is internationally renowned for its research and education in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.

The UCL School of Pharmacy was originally established in 1842 as the College of the Pharmaceutical Society. It was the first institution in the British Empire to be established specifically for the education of pharmacists. In 1949, it became a school of the University of London and in 2012, it merged with University College London.

Education[edit | edit source]

The UCL School of Pharmacy offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. These include the MPharm, a four-year undergraduate degree in pharmacy, and the MSc in Advanced Pharmacy Practice, a postgraduate degree for practicing pharmacists. The school also offers PhD programs in various areas of pharmaceutical research.

The UCL School of Pharmacy is known for its research in areas such as drug discovery, formulation sciences, neuroscience, and pharmacology. The school's research is often interdisciplinary, involving collaborations with other departments within University College London and with other institutions around the world.

Many notable figures in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences have studied at the UCL School of Pharmacy. These include Sir Henry Wellcome, co-founder of the pharmaceutical company Wellcome Trust, and Dame Sally Davies, the former Chief Medical Officer for England.
