University of Hong Kong (HKU) is a public research university located in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong. Founded in 1911, it is the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong. As an internationally recognized university, HKU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines, including Medicine, Law, Engineering, Business and Economics, and Arts and Humanities, among others.

The University of Hong Kong was established in 1911 during the British colonial era. It was initially proposed in response to the need for higher education in Hong Kong and to compete with other colonial powers that had established universities in their territories. The university officially opened its doors on March 11, 1912, with the Faculty of Medicine being one of its founding faculties, in collaboration with the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, which had been in existence since 1887.
