Ventrolateral
Ventrolateral is a term used in anatomy to describe a position that is both towards the belly side (ventral) and the side of the body (lateral). It is used to describe the location of various structures in the body.
Anatomy[edit | edit source]
In the context of human anatomy, the term ventrolateral is used to describe the position of various structures in the body. For example, the ventrolateral nucleus is a part of the thalamus, which is located in the ventrolateral position. Similarly, the ventrolateral prefrontal cortex is a part of the prefrontal cortex that is located in the ventrolateral position.
Ventrolateral Nucleus[edit | edit source]
The ventrolateral nucleus is a part of the thalamus that is involved in the regulation of motor functions. It receives inputs from the cerebellum and sends outputs to the motor cortex, thereby playing a crucial role in the coordination of voluntary movements.
Ventrolateral Prefrontal Cortex[edit | edit source]
The ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (VLPFC) is a part of the prefrontal cortex that is involved in the processing of information related to language, memory, and emotion. It is also involved in the regulation of cognitive functions such as decision making and problem solving.
