Vladan Đorđević was born in Belgrade, in the Principality of Serbia. He pursued his medical studies in Vienna, where he graduated in 1869. His education in Vienna exposed him to the latest medical practices and innovations, which he later brought back to Serbia.

Upon returning to Serbia, Đorđević became a leading figure in the medical community. He was instrumental in modernizing Serbian healthcare and was a pioneer in introducing contemporary medical practices. He served as a physician in the Serbian army and played a crucial role during the Serbo-Turkish War (1876–78).

Đorđević's influence extended beyond medicine into politics. He served as the Prime Minister of Serbia from 1897 to 1900. During his tenure, he focused on improving public health and education. He was also a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
