William Everard (1602 – 1659) was an English Protestant religious radical and political activist known for his involvement in the Diggers movement during the English Civil War.

Little is known about William Everard's early life, including his birthplace and upbringing. He emerged as a prominent figure in the 17th century during a period of significant social and political upheaval in England.

Diggers Movement[edit | edit source]

Everard is most notably remembered for his role in the Diggers movement, also known as the True Levellers, which emerged in the aftermath of the English Civil War. The Diggers advocated for the communal ownership of land and the redistribution of wealth to address social inequalities.
