Xinjiang Medical University

Xinjiang Medical University (Chinese: 新疆医科大学; pinyin: Xīnjiāng Yīkē Dàxué) is a medical school located in Ürümqi, the capital city of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It was ratified by the National Committee of Education and upgraded to a comprehensive medical university in 1998.

Xinjiang Medical University was founded in 1956. It was originally a part of Shanghai First Medical College and Nanjing Medical College. In 1960, it became an independent institution, focusing on medicine, teaching, research, and medical services.

Campus[edit | edit source]

The university has three campuses, covering an area of 421,900 square meters. The campuses include 17 teaching departments, 10 research institutions, 20 affiliated hospitals, and 38 practice hospitals.

Academics[edit | edit source]

Xinjiang Medical University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. The university has a strong faculty team of 1163, which includes 400 professors and chief doctors. The university has two key laboratories that are acknowledged by the Ministry of Education.

International Cooperation[edit | edit source]

Xinjiang Medical University has established academic partnerships with many higher education institutions internationally. The university is recognized by the World Health Organization and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
