Yodels

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Yodels are a popular American snack food produced by the Drake's brand, a subsidiary of McKee Foods. They were first introduced in the 1960s and have since become a staple in many American households. Yodels are cylindrical in shape and consist of a rolled chocolate cake filled with a creamy vanilla filling.

History[edit | edit source]

Yodels were first introduced by Drake's in the 1960s. The snack was inspired by the Swiss roll, a traditional European dessert. The name "Yodels" is a playful nod to the Swiss origin of the snack's inspiration, as yodeling is a form of singing that originated in the Swiss Alps.

Production[edit | edit source]

Yodels are made by baking a thin layer of chocolate cake, which is then spread with a creamy vanilla filling. The cake is rolled up with the filling inside, creating a cylindrical shape. The roll is then coated in a layer of chocolate. The finished product is individually wrapped and sold in boxes of ten.

Popularity[edit | edit source]

Yodels have remained a popular snack in the United States for over half a century. They are often included in packed lunches and are a common sight at parties and other gatherings. The snack's popularity has led to the creation of several spin-off products, including Yodels Ice Cream and Yodels Cereal.
