Édouard Toulouse (1865–1947) was a prominent French psychiatrist and psychologist known for his contributions to the field of mental health and his pioneering work in psychometrics. He was a key figure in the development of psychiatry in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Édouard Toulouse was born on April 12, 1865, in Paris, France. He pursued his medical studies at the University of Paris, where he developed an interest in neurology and psychiatry. Toulouse was influenced by the works of Jean-Martin Charcot and Pierre Janet, both of whom were leading figures in the study of neurological disorders and psychological conditions.

Toulouse began his career at the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, where he worked under the mentorship of Jean-Martin Charcot. He later became the director of the Laboratory of Experimental Psychology at the École Pratique des Hautes Études. Toulouse's work focused on the application of scientific methods to the study of mental health, and he was one of the first to use psychometric tests to assess intelligence and personality.
