2C-SE-Chemdraw

2C-Se is a psychedelic drug and phenethylamine derivative which is part of the 2C family of compounds. First synthesized by Alexander Shulgin, it is known for its psychoactive effects, which are similar to but distinct from other compounds in the 2C series, such as 2C-B, 2C-E, and 2C-I. The chemical name for 2C-Se is 4-ethyl-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine. Like other 2C compounds, 2C-Se acts primarily as a serotonin receptor agonist, which contributes to its psychedelic effects.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

2C-Se, like other compounds in the 2C family, is a phenethylamine, featuring a core phenethylamine structure with an ethyl group substituted at the 4 position of the phenyl ring and two methoxy groups substituted at the 2 and 5 positions of the phenyl ring. The presence of the ethyl group at the 4 position distinguishes 2C-Se from other 2C compounds and affects its pharmacological properties and potency.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

The pharmacological action of 2C-Se is primarily through agonism of the serotonin 2A receptor (5-HT2A), which is a common mechanism of action among psychedelic drugs. This interaction with the serotonin system is thought to be responsible for the drug's psychedelic effects. The exact pharmacokinetics, including absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of 2C-Se, have not been extensively studied.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 2C-Se can vary greatly among individuals but generally include alterations in perception, mood, and thought. Users may experience visual hallucinations, enhanced colors, emotional shifts, and alterations in the perception of time. The duration of effects can last several hours, depending on the dose and individual metabolism.

Safety and Legality[edit | edit source]

As with many research chemicals, the safety profile of 2C-Se is not well-established. Potential risks include psychological distress and harmful physical effects, particularly at high doses or in combination with other substances. The legal status of 2C-Se varies by country, with many jurisdictions having laws controlling its possession, manufacture, and distribution.
