4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinooctanophenone

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinooctanophenone (also known as 4F-PV9) is a psychoactive drug and research chemical belonging to the pyrrolidinophenone class. It is structurally related to α-PVP, a potent stimulant drug with significant abuse potential.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinooctanophenone is a synthetic cathinone, a class of drugs structurally related to cathinone, the active stimulant in the khat plant. It is a fluorinated analog of α-PVP, meaning it has a fluorine atom attached to the phenyl ring at the 4' position. The presence of the fluorine atom can significantly alter the drug's pharmacological properties.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

As a synthetic cathinone, 4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinooctanophenone is believed to act as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI), blocking the reuptake of the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine and increasing their levels in the brain. This results in stimulant effects including increased alertness, euphoria, and increased heart rate.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinooctanophenone can vary widely depending on the dose, individual physiology, and method of administration. Common effects reported by users include euphoria, increased energy, enhanced focus, and increased sociability. However, the drug can also cause a range of negative effects, including anxiety, paranoia, and potentially dangerous increases in heart rate and blood pressure.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of 4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinooctanophenone varies by country. In many jurisdictions, it is classified as a controlled substance due to its structural similarity to other banned synthetic cathinones.
