8 (eight) is the natural number following 7 and preceding 9. It is an integer and a composite number, being the product of 2^3. It is also a Fibonacci number, being the sixth number in the sequence, and is the only positive Fibonacci number that is a perfect cube.

In mathematics, 8 is a composite number, its proper divisors being 1, 2, and 4. It is the first number that is neither a prime number nor a semiprime. It is the base of the octal number system, which is mostly used in computing.
