ATC code R is a section of the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification System (ATC), a system used for the classification of drugs and other medical products. The ATC system is controlled by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is used globally to ensure the consistent classification of medications.

The ATC code R is designated for drugs that act on the respiratory system. This category includes medications used to treat conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cough, and allergic rhinitis.

The ATC code R is divided into several subgroups, each representing a different class of respiratory medications:

R02 - Throat preparations[edit | edit source]

This subgroup includes medications used for the treatment of throat conditions such as sore throat and pharyngitis. Examples include throat lozenges and antiseptic gargles.

This subgroup includes other medications used for the treatment of respiratory conditions that do not fall into the above categories. Examples include respiratory stimulants and oxygen therapy.
