The Albert Dock Seamen's Hospital was founded in 1890 by the Seamen's Hospital Society, a charitable organization established to provide medical care for seamen. The hospital was located in the Albert Dock, a major dock in London. The hospital was housed in a former ship, the Dreadnought, which was converted into a hospital ship. The hospital was later moved to a purpose-built building in the dock.

The hospital was known for its work in the field of tropical diseases. It was one of the first hospitals in the world to specialize in this area, and many significant discoveries and advancements in tropical medicine were made there. The hospital was also known for its training programs for doctors and nurses, many of whom went on to work in other parts of the world.

In 1986, the hospital was closed and its services were transferred to the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
