History[edit | edit source]

The American Italian Pasta Company was established in 1988 by Richard Thompson and Horst W. Schroeder. The company aimed to produce high-quality pasta products for the American market. Over the years, the company expanded its operations by opening additional plants in Columbia, South Carolina, Tolleson, Arizona, and Verolanuova, Italy.

AIPC specialized in producing a wide range of dry pasta products, including spaghetti, fettuccine, penne, and macaroni. The company supplied pasta to both retail and foodservice markets under various brand names, including Pasta LaBella, Golden Grain, and Heartland.

Acquisition[edit | edit source]

In 2010, AIPC was acquired by Ralcorp Holdings, a major manufacturer of private-label food products. The acquisition allowed Ralcorp to expand its product offerings and strengthen its position in the pasta market. Following the acquisition, AIPC continued to operate under the Ralcorp umbrella until Ralcorp itself was acquired by ConAgra Foods in 2013.
