From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Ample Hills Creamery is a popular ice cream company based in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 2011 by Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna, the company is known for its creative and unique flavors, as well as its commitment to using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.

History[edit | edit source]

Ample Hills Creamery was founded in 2011 by Brian Smith, a former screenwriter, and Jackie Cuscuna, a former school teacher. The name "Ample Hills" comes from a line in the Walt Whitman poem "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry." The company started with a single shop in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights neighborhood and quickly gained popularity due to its unique flavors and high-quality ingredients.

In 2014, Ample Hills opened a second location in Gowanus, Brooklyn, which also houses their main production facility. The company has since expanded to multiple locations across New York City, as well as shops in Los Angeles, Miami, and Disney World.

Products[edit | edit source]

Ample Hills offers a variety of ice cream flavors, many of which are inspired by popular culture and local landmarks. Some of their most popular flavors include "Ooey Gooey Butter Cake," "The Munchies," and "Nonna D's Oatmeal Lace." The company also offers seasonal flavors and has collaborated with various brands and franchises, such as Star Wars and Marvel Comics, to create limited-edition flavors.

All of Ample Hills' ice cream is made in-house, with the company prioritizing locally sourced ingredients. The milk and cream used in their ice cream comes from grass-fed cows at local farms, and the company also makes their own mix-ins, such as the brownies and cookies found in many of their flavors.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Ample Hills has received widespread acclaim for its ice cream. The company has been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Food & Wine, and Bon Appétit. In 2014, Ample Hills was named the best ice cream shop in America by the Daily Meal.
