Ancient Egyptians
Ancient Egyptians were the inhabitants of Ancient Egypt, a civilization of ancient North Africa, concentrated along the lower reaches of the Nile River in the place that is now the country Egypt. This civilization followed prehistoric Egypt and coalesced around 3100 BC (according to conventional Egyptian chronology) with the political unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under Menes (often identified with Narmer).

The history of Ancient Egypt occurred in a series of stable Kingdoms, separated by periods of relative instability known as Intermediate Periods. The Old Kingdom of the Early Bronze Age, the Middle Kingdom of the Middle Bronze Age and the New Kingdom of the Late Bronze Age.
Society[edit | edit source]
Ancient Egyptian society was a complex one with many different levels of hierarchy. At the top was the Pharaoh, followed by a select group of advisors, priests, and nobles. The majority of the population were farmers, laborers, and slaves.
Religion[edit | edit source]
Ancity Egyptian religion was a complex system of polytheistic beliefs and rituals. The Egyptians had a deep belief in the afterlife and the possibility of achieving immortality. This belief was predicated on a series of rituals and practices, including the building of Pyramids and tombs for the deceased, the preservation of the body through mummification, and the provision of statuary and other funerary goods.

The Ancient Egyptian language is a branch of the Afroasiatic language family. The earliest known complete sentence in the Egyptian language has been dated to about 2690 BC, making it one of the oldest recorded languages known.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
The legacy of Ancient Egypt can be seen in many aspects of modern society, from architecture and art to medicine and agriculture. The Ancient Egyptians' complex system of hieroglyphics was also a significant contribution to written language, and their calendar system forms the basis of the one used in the Western world today.
