Andreas Loverdos (Greek: Ανδρέας Λοβέρδος

born 15 May 1956) is a Greek politician and lawyer. He has held several key positions in the Government of Greece, including Minister for Education and Religious Affairs, Minister for Health, and Minister for Labour and Social Affairs. He is a member of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK).

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Andreas Loverdos was born in Patras, Greece, on 15 May 1956. He studied at the University of Athens, where he earned a degree in law. He later pursued postgraduate studies in France and Germany.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Loverdos began his political career as a member of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). He was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 2000. Throughout his career, he has held several ministerial positions.

Minister for Labour and Social Affairs[edit | edit source]

Loverdos served as the Minister for Labour and Social Affairs from 2009 to 2010. During his tenure, he focused on labor market reforms and social security issues.

Minister for Health[edit | edit source]

From 2010 to 2012, Loverdos was the Minister for Health. His term was marked by efforts to reform the Greek healthcare system amidst the Greek government-debt crisis.

Minister for Education and Religious Affairs[edit | edit source]

Loverdos also served as the Minister for Education and Religious Affairs. His tenure included initiatives to modernize the Greek education system and address issues related to religious affairs.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Andreas Loverdos is married and has two children. He is fluent in Greek, English, and French.
