Angoon
Angoon is a city located on the western part of Admiralty Island in the Alexander Archipelago, Alaska. It is the only permanent settlement on the island and is known for its rich Tlingit heritage. The city's name, Angoon, means "isthmus town" in the Tlingit language.

Angoon has a long history of habitation by the Tlingit people. The city was originally a summer fishing camp for the Kootznoowoo Tlingit tribe. The tribe permanently settled in the area in the mid-18th century. The city's location provided the tribe with abundant resources, including salmon, halibut, and seal.

Angoon is located at the mouth of Kootznahoo Inlet, an arm of the Chatham Strait. The city is surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the United States. The city's climate is characterized by mild, rainy summers and cool, wet winters.

Health care services in Angoon are provided by the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC).
