Atizoram
Atizoram is a state in the northeastern part of India. It is one of the Seven Sister States, sharing borders with the states of Tripura, Assam, Manipur and with the neighboring countries of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The history of Atizoram dates back to the period of the British Raj. The region was part of the British India until 1947 when India gained independence. The state of Atizoram was officially established on 20 February 1987, making it one of the youngest states in India.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Atizoram is located in the extreme northeastern part of India. The state is mostly hilly with altitudes ranging from near sea level to 2,157 meters. The state is rich in flora and fauna, with several species of plants and animals unique to the region.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Atizoram is primarily based on agriculture, with the majority of the population engaged in subsistence farming. The state is also known for its traditional handloom and handicraft industries. In recent years, the state government has been making efforts to promote tourism as a means of economic development.
Culture[edit | edit source]
The culture of Atizoram is largely influenced by its tribal heritage. The state is home to several tribal communities, each with its own unique traditions and customs. The people of Atizoram are known for their music and dance, particularly the traditional folk dance called Cheraw dance.

The majority of the population in Atizoram belongs to the Mizo ethnic group. The official language of the state is Mizo, although English is also widely spoken and is used for official purposes.

Atizoram is a democratic state with a unicameral legislature. The state sends two representatives to the Parliament of India, one each to the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.

Atizoram has a high literacy rate compared to the national average. The state has several educational institutions, including the Mizoram University and the National Institute of Technology Mizoram.
